1. General Description
The University for Peace (UPEACE) was created by the UN General Assembly in 1980 with the mission “to provide humanity with an international institution of higher education for peace and with the aim of promoting among all human beings the spirit of understanding, tolerance and peaceful coexistence, to stimulate cooperation among peoples and to help lessen obstacles and threats to world peace and progress:’
UPEACE’s more than 2,200 alumni come from more than 100 different countries. The incredible diversity of the UPEACE campus allows students and faculty to collaborate and collectively build a unique learning experience. Our goal is to provide a multicultural and intimate environment respectful of gender equality.
UPEACE offers Master’s Degree Programmes in various topics related to Peace and Conflict Studies. Students receive a high quality education in a distinctive atmosphere with a focus on multicultural perspectives, theory, and practical applications. Most of our programmes are taught in English, with the exception of the two MA programmes in the Department of Regional Studies which are taught in Spanish.
