General Description

UWC Costa Rica is a nonprofit foundation and a two-year residential pre-university program for students to achieve the International Baccalaureate. Led by our mission of cultivating in young people the passion and ability to serve humanity and our planet—learning from nature and from each other for a lifetime, we offer a bilingual program, opportunities to learn more about the region's social, political, and cultural history, and embedded in our curriculum, many options to explore Costa Rica sustainably, following our Sustainability Framework. The country’s long-standing history of peace, democracy, environmental protection, and the absence of a national military provide the ideal setting for the college’s strong experiential learning curriculum.

Sustainability & Innovation provides educational programs targeting schools, universities, companies, and the global UWC Alum Community. By employing an experiential learning model, Sustainability & Innovation seeks to enhance UWC Costa Rica's impact on the educational sector. It also offers lodging, food, and hosting services for international students participating in faculty-led programs, study abroad, internships, volunteer opportunities, and other programs in Costa Rica.

UWC Costa Rica's Sustainability & Innovation Programs

Faculty-Led and Study Abroad Programs
UWC Costa Rica offers Faculty-Led and Study Abroad programs based on courses previously developed by College and University professors. As a host institution, UWC Costa Rica complements the program with educational tours, lodging, transportation, and meals, meeting each client's needs.

International Camps
For international students, we hold 14-day summer camps at UWC Costa Rica. These experiences allow a greater audience to live the UWC Costa Rica experiential learning model, embodying our values of Empathy, Reciprocity, and Accountability, following one of our workshop's main areas: Social-Emotional, Sustainability, and Social Entrepreneurship.

Rentals
UWC Costa Rica rents its facilities for events and hospitality. It also offers complementary services such as transportation, classrooms, and usage of the amphitheater, depending on each client's needs.

Educational Events (Workshops)
According to each client's profile, UWC Costa Rica offers workshops. All workshops follow UWC Costa Rica's experiential learning model and focus on one of three main areas: Social-Emotional, Sustainability, or Social Entrepreneurship.

Local Camps
UWC Costa Rica offers summer camps for local students. These five-day experiences allow a greater audience to experience the UWC Costa Rica experiential learning model, embodying our values of Empathy, Reciprocity, and Accountability.

Coming Soon: Sustainability & Innovation Center

UWC Costa Rica's new campus in San Isidro de Heredia allows the college to expand its mission to a broader audience, increase its capacity and scholarship opportunities, and provide a unique space immersed in nature to foster a new generation of agents of change.

The Sustainability and Innovation Center will incorporate innovative learning methodologies and sustainable systems, becoming a hub of educational innovation and social transformation where leading global partnerships can scale impact, facilitate access to educational experiences, and leverage financial stability for UWC Costa Rica. This space will become an exceptional opportunity to unite with leading global partners to amplify our influence as advocates for sustainability, social justice, and peace. Together, we'll expand access to life-changing educational experiences for youth in Costa Rica and worldwide.
